The Munster Schools Junior Cup rugby semi-final will take place next Tuesday, 9th March, at Tom Clifford Park. Kick-off is expected to be at 3pm.
Crescent have already played two games in the competition. On February 3rd, we faced PBC and won by 15 points to 10 after a hard fought game. Despite having lots of possession, the team struggled to get into top gear, but probably won a shade cosily in the end. On February 24th, we played a very physical and well drilled Rockwell team. A try from winger James Frawley, converted by Captain Diarmuid Dee, led to a 7-0 scoreline at half time. While both teams had disallowed tries in the second half, neither team managed to raise a flag throughout the second half.
There is no doubt that Glenstal will present the Crescent boys with an extremely stern test next Tuesday, but the team has prepared well and will be hoping to raise their game significantly on the previous two outings. Tickets for the game will be on sale in the school until Tuesday morning, and parents/supporters can purchase tickets at the gate on the day. Your support is always needed on occasions such as this, so get your old jersey out and come along to support the boys on what will hopefully be another memorable sporting occasion for the school.
