The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation provides direct funding to families of children with brain damage who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay, enabling them to purchase home respite care. The Foundation gives these families the gift of time, time to do the things that we so often take for granted like shopping, taking their other children to the park, a night’s sleep etc.
We are currently running a mobile phone collection effort in conjunction with Jack & Jill. Every phone collected is worth a significant amount of money to the charity. The precious metals contained in the phones are usually recycled, allowing the charity to extract a monetary value from what is essentially a waste product for most of us.
A nice incentive for the school is that for every 300 phones we collect, Jack & Jill will donate a brand new Promethean Interactive Whiteboard to the school as a reward!
If you have old mobile phones, or you know a family member, friend or neighbour who would like to donate their old phones to this incredibly worthy cause, please ask your son or daughter to collect them and bring them to the school within the next few weeks.
We previously donated 1,200 phones to the charity on the last occasion that the collection was organised, so we are hoping to exceed that figure at the very least!
