CCC Parents Council

The purpose of the Parents’ Council is to promote the role of parents and guardians as prime educators of their children together with their teachers. In addition, it undertakes and/or promotes activities, as agreed with the Board of Management which advances the aims and objectives of Crescent College Comprehensive S.J. The Parents’ Council also has a role in the promotion of the Ethos of Crescent College Comprehensive S.J. and the aims of a Jesuit education in the formation of the students as persons of the competence, conscience and compassion.

All parents and guardians of Crescent pupils are automatically members of the Parents Association. An AGM of the association is held at the beginning of each school year to elect the Parents’ Council. Parent Council members have to seek election/re-election each year. The parent nominees to the Board of Management are also elected to the association AGM, but these individuals remain in place for the duration of a Board of Management term, usually a period of five years.

The Parents Council has assisted the school in many areas throughout the years, chiefly in developing the sports facilities and the dining hall etc. The members of the Council have brought their own expertise to assist in developing traffic strategies, sports and art initiatives in addition to producing financial and administrative solutions to the college over many years.
