The Junior Cycle Programme runs from first to third year. Students study thirteen subjects in
total, ten of which are exam subjects for the Junior Cycle Examination at the end of third
year.

JUNIOR CYCLE CURRICULUM

Subjects studied by all students for Junior Cycle are:
Irish,
English,
Maths,
Science
History,
Geography
Modern Foreign Language (choice of one – Spanish, French, German)
Physical Education
Civic, Social and Political Education (CSPE)
Social Personal and Health Education (SPHE)
Religious Education

Elective Subjects 

Students choose two subjects from the following
• Music
• Visual Art
• Home Economics
• Business
• Materials Technology (Woodwork/Metalwork/Applied)
• Technical Graphics

Students get six weeks at the beginning of first year to try out these options before making their choices.
